Letters to Pharisees

Some days

It is nice and quiet

and pain will tell you subtle things.

There is rheumatism in our loving,

too much baptism in our stomachs.

Our neatly folded hands mimic

the stiff origami culture in our heads

that love should fold like this

or life will crease like that.
