With Everyone and Yet Not

Young ones

Old defeats

How lovely, these familiar wounds

behind the boy’s eye.

Too young to know they’re there

Too heavy to be his self.

“Hey Dad” he said

“What’s the world from the middle of a fishhook”

“Hey Dad” he said

“I’d love to be a lover”.

He’s with everyone and yet not.

In empty rooms

he misses the one that he loves a lot.
